Autumn evening, a light rainout of the
window, I sat alone under the window, immersed in the Badashanren’s flower and
bird painting world, recalledmy childhood life. There is a full lotus pond in
my hometown beside Dajueshi, my classmates and I often with a fishing rod and
fishing there. Maybe effected by Mr. Zhu Ziqing’s"Moonlight over the Lotus
Pond", since then I had a first love affair with the lotus.

Lotus, is the hometown of the common
things, in the pond and drains, lake and river, everywhere there is. I
especially love alone in the moonlight walking on the road beside the lotus
pond, in which infinite longing and active power of youth, could not help
thinking of the full life, I regard lotus as friends, as a bosom friend, as a
teacher. My experience, from the lotus of prosperous and honor, see the joy and
bitterness of folks, see the twists and turns of life, many times I was
wandering beside the lotus pond, red lotus, white lotus crowded round, these
connected leaves, like wave over roll, presented the complex, chill and sorrow,
I got the art inspiration, rich imagination and feelings, arouse the
irresistible beauty.

So many masters like clouds in the
ancient and modern painting circles,such as Wang Mian, Shi Tao, Bada, Wu
Changshuo, Qi Baishi, Pan Tianshou, Zhang Daqian and so on, are all very fond
of painting lotus. They have inherited and developed in art, they can be said
to have its great points and great achievements. Especially in the Bada’s ink
lotus of stick figures, Qi Baishi’s autumn lotus, Pan Tianshou’s the figure ink
lotus, Zhang Daqian’s splashed color ink lotus, with the impressive impression.
I carefully read of many masters’ masterpieces of the lotus, I want to draw a
vicissitudes of culture, a tragic consciousness of culture. I started to draw
lotus, like hunger and thirst to come into the tradition and life, and
aspiringout of traditional, out of life, I do not want to own lotus under my
brush, become a replica of predecessors and life. I want to draw my own lotus,
draw my own feelings about the lotus, and my love for lotus, painting the pain
and pleasure of the folks beside the lotus pond.

I feel that painting lotus is often a
state of mind. Art creation to have real feelings, the purpose of creation is
not depicting things, but that is the expression of the author's feelings, ask
the painter to express his thoughts and characters frankly, not artificial, not
false, if flower and bird painting not for expressing emotions, then there is
not much value in the art.
The history of many men of literature
and writing are like its noble and unsullied, fresh and elegant, come out of
the dirty mud unsoiled, my own life experience, I feel that the new connotation
of the lotus with my own life experience. Such as "Yue Xioa Feng
Qing", "Wind and Rain Make the Louts Pond Chaos", "West
Wind Falls into the Twilight Melancholy" and other works,the expression of
the understanding and sublimity of life. A leaf and a branch are shine life
flame, broke the tension of life, surging echoes of life. I draw lotus, pay
attention to completely relaxed, completely free, with the relaxed nature,
focus on artistic conception and momentum, not the pursuit of the exquisite of
a leaf and a branch, pay attention to "big flower and bird spirit",
and create the overall rendering atmosphere, in the instant change line, draw
the dignified of wind and rain, red lotus, withered lotus with chicmoon.

I don't paint the lotus in the basin,
nor draw the lotus in the small courtyard pool, each one of them is wild lotus
in the country's water, even it's withered and disabled,it also has a wild
spirit and an indomitable vitality. I draw lotus the lines as the basic means,
bold lines outline the lotus modeling, combining techniques of landscape
painting in the picture, and then the blank rendering again, try to foil with
the rendering method, the strong contrast in the black and white shades,make
the lotus distinctive, has a strong impact force.
After more than a thousand years of
development, Chinese flower and bird painting is extensive and profound and
attracts the attention of the world. But we have the responsibility to break
through the existing aesthetic programs and make great efforts to exploit the new
fields of Chinese flower and bird painting.

Great traditions are worthy of pride,
but no substitute for creation, without creation and no tradition. Today’s
tradition is the predecessors’ creation, today's creation is the tradition of
the future, what is appearance of a person's work, is determined by the
author's own knowledge structure, special artistic temperament, an independent
artist, neither drift with the traditional ideas, nor ups and downs with the
shallow trend, but in any casemust be viewed the previous miracle,
immersingancient and modern culture, the grand view of world in the mind, do.
It can be said, what kind of skill, mind, knowledge, morality, will have what kind
of artist.
